We are pleased to announce that we will begin offering Curbside Pickup services beginning on Monday, June 15, 2020. During this time, the library will be operating with the following temporary limited hours:
Monday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Tuesday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Wednesday: 3 PM – 7 PM
Thursday: 3 PM – 7 PM
Friday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Saturday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Librarians will be present in the building to fill orders only. Orders will be placed on a book cart outside the front door of the library. During bad weather, the cart will be moved to our foyer.
How to place an order:
The simplest way to order items is online via the Upper Hudson Library System catalog. You can also place an order over the phone by calling (518) 686-9401.
For online orders, please call us when you receive a notification informing you that your books are available at the library. You will be able to schedule a pickup time with a librarian.
Facial coverings are required on library premises. Social distancing of 6′ is highly encouraged. If you are unable to access our front door or foyer, please let us know. We are happy to make different accommodations.
Your order will be in an opaque plastic bag with your name attached. Please do not touch any other bags on the cart.
Please return all items in the book drop only. All returned items will be quarantined for 96 hours before being checked in. We are a fine-free library, so all late fees for materials from other libraries will be waived.
A Message For Our Patrons:
As mentioned above, all returned items and all interlibrary loan items will be quarantined a minimum of 96 hours before being checked in. These precautions are necessary, but will cause some delays in the processing of orders.
All library staff have been provided with personal protective equipment and will utilize these accordingly while handling library materials. All staff are also required to complete a pre-screening questionnaire at the beginning of each shift to ensure they do not have symptoms indicative of COVID-19, nor have had exposure to COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to reporting to work.
We deeply appreciate our community’s continued patience and support as we move forward in our gradual reopening process. Our goal is to reach a level of reopening during which we can safely allow limited patron access to the building and, ultimately, to return to our pre-pandemic hours and offered services. Cheney Library has prepared itself to be adaptable as overall situations change at both community and state levels. Our foremost concerns are patron and staff safety, and we will accommodate both at all times.
If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. Thank you once again, and we look very forward to seeing you soon!
